Nov. 10th, 2004 08:30 amtalked to mom yesterday. needle biopsy was inconclusive. not enough material. she met with a surgeon yesterday and is now scheduled for an 'open' biopsy on friday midday. she's gotten a referral to a surgeon at the university hospital (an hour and a half from where she lives, but top notch medical professionals). she really has no more information than that. she just doesn't ask questions. i think she doesn't want to know. i asked her probably 10 or 15 things that i would have asked the doctor, but she hadn't asked any of them, and they hadn't been volunteered. she doesn't even know if they plan to remove the three tumors when they go in for the biopsy on friday. surely they will. it makes no sense to leave them there for another day, does it? my assumption is that they'll not only take a biopsy, but take the three tumors and look at the surrounding organs and perhaps take some samples from them, too.
she didn't even find out how long she's expected to be at the hospital. *sigh*
my sister will be with her again. she's apparently mellowed enough that she is willing to call her siblings afterward and tell us how mom is doing. isn't that nice?
